Art at Wharepuke

1. Open Submission NZ Print Show/USA Exchange

The deadline for the Art at Wharepuke open submission print show has been extended until December 15th as there are now more galleries in the USA keen to showcase New Zealand printmaking.

Extending the deadline will allow more artists the opportunity to participate in the expanded programme of exciting international exhibitions.

This is an opportunity to have your work featured in a representative exhibition of New Zealand printmaking at galleries in New Zealand and in the USA. Selection for the Art at Wharepuke Open Print show will guarantee that your work will be sent to the USA for inclusion in a touring exhibition combining NZ prints with works from members of the Zea Mays Printmaking Studio. Liz Chalfin, the director of Zea Mays, is also negotiating for other venues in Massachusetts to take the show during the American summer.

The Art at Wharepuke exhibition will run during the Bay of Islands Arts Festival and will feature in the festival programme guide and advertising. The festival brings a huge influx of art enthusiasts to the Bay of Islands and will provide great exposure for your work.

The selected work will be included on the Art at Wharepuke gallery web site and become part of the on line gallery archive.

Entry Requirements:

Initial selection will be made from images sent on CD, photograph or by email.

Send Images of up to 3 works, in any recognised printmaking technique (intaglio, relief, planographic, digital) – no giclée reproductions.

Paper size (210 x 297 mm) to fit A4 frame (work will be floated)
Image can be any size within this format.

Completed application form and CV/Bio

Entry fee of NZ$50.00.
This covers all the exhibitions in NZ and USA - framing, postage to USA, return of works, advertising (Art New Zealand etc), directory listings, web site presence, private view and administration.

If accepted for exhibition it would be useful to have further prints from the edition available to maximise your sales opportunities, please indicate the number of prints in each edition that are available. Selected work will be required to be sent to Art at Wharepuke flat packed by January 14th 2010 framing will be undertaken by the galleries.
